WORLDS START AGAIN

Posted in General

Darren Websters final Championship of 2017 will be the William Hill World Championship. The world number 23 starts his campaign on December 21st when he meets Devon Peterson in the first round. Webster has been nothing short of sensational over the last 14 months on the PDC tour. Since November 2016 he has had a semi final finish in the 2016 Players Championship Finals and three last 16 finishes (2017 World World Championship, 2017 Players Championship Finals, 2017 Grand Slam). Webster also reached the quarter final in the 2017 World Matchplay in Blackpool and won a prestigious Players Championship qualifying event in July this year. However as every professional in the "Worlds" will tell you this is the one that matters. It is without doubt the tournament that players are remembered and defined by and naturally Webster will want to win it.

He knows that Peterson is no pushover. The South African has reached the quarters of the UK Open in 2016 and the last 16 of the World Championship in 2014. Having said that Webster is in the form of his life and we would expect him to overcome a dogged Peterson to reach the second round on December 27th.
