WONDERFUL WEBSTER

Posted in General

Darren Webster continues to improve. The Norwich darts star currently ranked 37 in the PDC World order of merit had a successful weekend at the Players Championship qualifiers held in Coventry last weekend. On Saturday Darren won his first three rounds, beating Premier League star and 5 time major winner James Wade, Dick van Dijk and Ricky Evans before losing in the last 16 stage to inform Johny Clayton.

On Sunday, Websters run of wins saw him reach the Semi Final stage. Beating former UK Open Champion Kevin Painter, Kyle Anderson, Mark Walsh, Jeffery de Zwaan and Alan Norris before losing to rising Dutch star "Big Ben" Benito van de Pas. Darrens sequence of wins in the Players Championship qualifiers is quite remarkable. In the 9 qualifying events thus far Webster has only failed to get past the first round on one occasion since the first qualifier on March 3rd. He is still in with a slim chance of qualifying for the World Matchplay in July - with two more events left before the cut off point - you would be foolish to write him off.
