PDC Fishing Championship

The 4th PDC Invitational Fishing Championship was won by Commonwealth Games gold medalist Dean Macey. The keen angler fought off stiff competition from last years winner Steve Collet, PDC darts players Jason Lovett and Richie Howson and former snooker pro Ian McCulloch to lift the prestigious trophy. The team event was won by team World snooker consisting of, Steve Davis OBE, Ian McCulloch, Ian McCormack and Jason Lovett. The championship, held for the second time at Manor Farm fishery last Sunday featured some of the biggest names in sport. Among the 24 fishermen were, WBA Lightweight Champion of the World Anthony Crolla, 6 times snooker world Champion Steve Davis OBE, PDC and Matchroom Sport chairman Barry Hearn, former WBO Super Featherweight champion Nicky Cook, 6 times PDC major champion James Wade, 2 times News of the World Champion Bobby George, former European Super Bantamweight champion Spencer Oliver and British Super Middleweight champion Paul Smith. The competition, which helps raise valuable funding for Haven House Children's Hospice will be broadcast on Sky Sports over the next few weeks and will be featured in next weeks Angling Mail.
