END OF YEAR REPORT

Posted in General

It's been a great year at JBD. Our darts player Darren Webster who turned 50 this year continues to defy logic and has risen to a career high number 13 in the world. We also staged 16 major shows in 2018 at resorts including Searles, Butlins, Potters and Mecca Bingo a number of which sold out. Our November show at Butlins on the night before the Players Championship Finals was attended by over 3000 people for the first time. In July we signed young darts player Jack Main, who guided by Darren Webster has impressed on his first 6 months on the Challenge Tour. The annually staged PDC Fishing Championship continues to grow, both in stature and size. Now in its 6th  year, it was held for the first time this year at Gold Valley Lakes in Aldershot and was won by professional angler Steve Collett. Notable names who fished this year included, Barry Hearn, Eddie Hearn, Mark Williams MBE, Steve Davis OBE, Gary Anderson, Dillian Whyte, Rob Cross, James Wade and Jamie Jones Buchanan. The main focus as we reach the final 3 weeks of the year is the William Hill World Championship. Last year Webster reached the last 8 before losing to Jamie Lewis. This year's championship is as wide open as any previously held. Subsequently anybody inside the top 15 players could reasonably be in with a shout of lifting the trophy on New years day 2019. Webster, who also reached the last 8 at the World Matchplay and the European Championship year will be working hard to make sure its him.
