DARREN DAZZLES

Posted in General

Darren Webster had a productive weekend at the last two players championship qualifiers in Barnsley. The 47 year old continued to impress and picked up good wins on the Friday and Saturday events. The Norwich man has now comfortably made it to the 64 player ITV televised Players Champioship final starting on November 25th and held at Butlins in Minehead. On Sunday there was also a qualifying event for the Grand Slam - one of the most prestigious events on the PDC calendar. The "Slam " held in Wolverhampton from November 12th - 20th features players from both the PDC and the BDO and is broadcast on Sky Sports. Darren's qualifying process started with the withdrawal of Dean Winstanley in the first round. The second round saw Webster defeat former world champion Mark Webster 5 - 2. In the third round Darren took on Dutchman Barry van Peer and won 5 - 4. In his final game Darren took on in form Jelle Klassen and defeated the Duthchman 5 - 2 to make qualification. It will be Websters second appearance at the Grand Slam and with a " kind " group draw he could well go onto the latter stages of the competition.
